Vineyard Recap

Last week I went to the Vineyard with a friend for a few days as I mentioned in a previous post (Vineyard Bound and Home Sweet Home). It was a great few days away from the hustle and bustle of the family house. I know that sounds silly but you'll just have to take my word for it.

We had a great time despite the TWO solid days of rain and covered practically the whole island. Unfortunately, my pictures are mainly of Wednesday and Thursday when we actually got out and went around the island more .... since who really wants to take pictures of rain... this isn't Ireland.

Regardless. Take a peek at this album for some of the highlights...

Tuesday - tooled around Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. Had lunch in Oak Bluffs at Seasons. Super tasty burger that came complete with a fried pickle. Yum. Made heroic attempts to set up the VHS (yep that's right) player at the house so we could watch Miss Congeniality. Thank you for saving us for a complete rain out Sandy Bullock.

Wednesday - Did a bunch of driving! Spent the day pretty much in Menemsha and Gay Head. Super gorgeous. Stopped in at Offshore Ale for a drink and some complementary peanuts ... you get to drop the peanuts on the floor. Fabulous. Had dinner in Edgartown, got ice cream, perused an excellent wine shop, and then sat on the bench at Edgartown Light until it started to rain.
Bubblegum Ice Cream! We didn't have it ... but woah blast from the past!
Thursday - Woke up early and headed over to Chappaquiddick! Gorgeous. Went to Wasque Reservation and the Dike Road Bridge (aka Ted Kennedy's Bridge ... they literally call it that when you ask what you can do on the island). Had lunch on the deck at the Seafood Shanty in Edgartown and watched the Chappy Ferry go back and forth. Awesome. They also give you delicious popcorn to tide you over. Tooled around Vineyard Haven for a bit and sat on the beach in Oak Bluffs before our 7pm ferry ride home.

One of the best memories is getting pizza from Rocco's in Vineyard Haven and eating it on the Vineyard Haven beach with wine while we waited for our boat.

... and that's the whole story :)
